Savar, Sep 12 (V7N) – The counting of votes for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections is still underway, with results for the hall assemblies expected to be finalized by noon on Friday.

According to the Election Commission office, as of 11:30 am, vote counting for 17 out of 21 halls has been completed — covering 11 male halls and 6 female halls. The process for the remaining four halls is ongoing.

Officials noted that once the hall-level results are completed, the counting of votes for the central assembly will begin. Due to the manual process being followed, the overall tally is expected to take longer, with final results likely to be announced after this evening.

Voting took place from 9 am to 5 pm on Thursday. Although the Election Commission initially planned to use OMR machines for counting, objections from several panels — including the Chhatra Dal-backed panel — led to a decision for manual counting. This has significantly slowed the process, with officials still tallying ballots nearly 17 hours after the polls closed.
