Rajshahi, Sep 01 (V7N) -Professor Jahangir Alam, who served as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), has resigned from his post. He cited personal reasons in his resignation letter, which he submitted to the university's Chancellor on Saturday afternoon (August 31).
 
The Acting Registrar of RUET, Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, confirmed the resignation on Sunday morning (September 1). He noted that Vice-Chancellor Jahangir Alam had tendered his resignation due to personal reasons, and a copy of the letter has been received.
 
Currently, RUET is without a Vice-Chancellor. A senior dean among the faculty members is expected to temporarily handle the responsibilities. The decision regarding who will assume this interim role is still pending but will be made soon.
 
Earlier, on August 10, RUET conducted an emergency Syndicate meeting to address the reopening of classes, exams, and dormitories. Following the decision of the 105th Syndicate meeting, the residential halls reopened on August 20, and classes and exams resumed on August 24.
 
Professor Jahangir Alam, who was appointed as Vice-Chancellor on August 13 of the previous year for a four-year term, has resigned after just one year in office.
