RANGAMATI, May 19, (V7N)– Social Welfare Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid today affirmed the government's commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of marginalized women in society.
"All officials and employees of the social welfare department must work sincerely for the welfare and rights of deprived women," she emphasized during an exchange of views with social welfare department officials and local dignitaries. She attended the event as the chief guest at the Circuit House here.
The program was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin. Other notable attendees included Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr. Md. Mahiuddin, Superintendent of Police Dr. Farhad Hossain, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rifat Asma, Deputy Director of the District Social Welfare Department Md. Omar Faruque, Family Welfare Officer Dr. Baby Tripura, and women leader Nirupama Dewan.
The adviser assured that the ministry would strive to ensure equal rights and facilities for women in the hilly regions, aligning them with those available in other districts across the country.
She urged relevant officials and staff to expedite the activities of the social welfare and cooperative departments within the hilly districts.
