Gopalganj, July 18 (V7N) – In response to a recent attack on National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders, Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard have intensified joint patrol operations along the river routes of Gopalganj to maintain law and order and prevent the escape of suspects via waterways.

Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid, Media Officer of the Coast Guard (Dhaka), confirmed the development on Friday afternoon. He stated that the patrols are part of ongoing operations aimed at restoring and upholding peace in the region following political unrest.

The joint forces are patrolling the rivers day and night, focusing on key routes that may be used by criminal elements to evade arrest. The operations include searching suspicious vessels, verifying passenger identities, and monitoring unusual movements.

Commander Rashid further emphasized that both the Navy and the Coast Guard are on high alert to prevent any potential acts of sabotage or disorder. He added that ensuring the safety of the general public remains their highest priority.

This security initiative comes amid growing concerns over the political stability in the area, particularly after violent incidents targeting opposition figures. Authorities have assured that surveillance and enforcement measures will continue until full normalcy is restored.
