DHAKA, June 6, 2026 (V7N) – The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has extended the operational time of MRT Line-6 by 20 minutes at night, effective from tomorrow. The decision was made in response to growing passenger demand on the metro rail service.
According to Metro Rail Public Relations Officer Mohammad Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, an additional trip will be introduced from both ends under the revised timetable. The last train from Uttara North station to Motijheel will now depart at 9:50 pm, while the final train from Motijheel to Uttara North will leave at 10:30 pm.
Currently, the last train departs at 9:30 pm from Uttara North and 10:10 pm from the Motijheel end. The extension adds 20 minutes of service at both ends, allowing more passengers to use the metro rail during evening hours.
The country's first metro rail began operations on December 28, 2022, on the Uttara North-Agargaon section. The service was gradually expanded, and full operations on the Uttara-Motijheel route started on December 31, 2023.
Construction work on the Kamalapur station is still ongoing, which will eventually complete the full MRT Line-6 corridor. Once completed, the line will provide seamless connectivity across a longer stretch of the capital.
