DHAKA, June 6, (V7N) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has announced that legal action will be taken against Ad-Din Hospital if its reply to a show-cause notice over the deaths of six newborns is not found satisfactory. He made the remarks at a press conference at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital today.
The minister said the hospital authorities have been asked to submit their reply by Sunday afternoon, explaining why their license should not be cancelled. A criminal case has already been filed over the incident, and further action will be taken based on investigation findings. "If the response is not satisfactory, action will be taken in accordance with the law," he stated.
Sakhawat Hossain also announced a new government ambulance service programme aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to people. The service will operate in three stages — from villages to upazilas, upazilas to districts, and districts to the capital — using three different types of specially designed ambulances for patient transportation.
The minister said the ambulances will be designed locally to suit the country's geographical and road conditions, with technical and design support from BUET. The locally manufactured electric ambulances will be equipped with necessary medical equipment, oxygen support, and all modern emergency facilities. Initially, the project will begin with one upazila as a model.
Regarding dengue prevention, the minister noted that awareness rallies and cleanliness campaigns have been organized across the country, including in Dhaka and all district towns. People have been urged to remain alert to control dengue, and necessary medicines for treating infected patients are available.
