KISHOREGANJ, July 27 V7N – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the ‘Jatiya Matsya Pakshya’ (National Fisheries Week) in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced at a preparatory meeting on Sunday.
The event is being organized in Katiadi to highlight the Greater Mymensingh region’s contribution of nearly 40 percent of Bangladesh’s total fish production. The initiative aims to showcase the achievements and potential of local fish farmers and entrepreneurs.
Previously held in Dhaka, the programme has been shifted this year to a region with significant fisheries output and entrepreneurship. Tuku noted that this will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Kishoreganj after the election, making the occasion especially significant for the district.
He urged the administration, lawmakers, and local stakeholders to work together to ensure the success of the national-level event.
The meeting was attended by lawmakers, district administration officials, police, and representatives from various government departments.
