CHATTOGRAM, July 26, (V7N) – MEP Hi-Tech is investing Tk 200 crore to establish a modern electrical and electronics manufacturing facility at the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram.  

The plant, to be developed on 10 acres of land, will produce a range of products including wires, switch-sockets, fans, LED lights, and circuit breakers. Designed to be technology-driven and environmentally friendly, the project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for around 2,000 people once fully operational.  

The construction of MEP Hi-Tech Industrial Park was inaugurated by BEZA Executive Member and Additional Secretary (Investment and Development) Saleh Ahmed. MEP Group Managing Director Dr. Md Jahangir Alam Chakladar and Chairman Shafiul Ahmed Chakladar attended as special guests.  

According to the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), MEP Group has been active in the country’s electrical and electronics sector since 1974. The company aims to begin operations within the next year.  

Saleh Ahmed noted that the investment will significantly contribute to industrialisation, promote technology-driven production, create import-substituting industries, generate jobs, and diversify exports. He assured that BEZA will continue to provide support to ensure an investment-friendly environment and help investors set up industries quickly.
