DHAKA, July 18, (v7n) – Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Spokesperson Mahadi Amin today said the government has achieved unprecedented multidimensional successes during its first five months in office, successfully addressing critical crises while steering the nation toward a humane, discrimination-free, and democratic future.

"The government has sent a strong message of good governance by controlling commodity prices, restoring discipline in the financial sector, making efforts to recover laundered money, and ensuring cost-effective and corruption-free reviews of various projects," he said at a press conference organised by the Prime Minister's Press Wing at the PMO.

Mahdi, also an adviser to the Prime Minister, said the successes can be grouped into five major areas: earning people's trust and support, protecting public interests in line with the election manifesto, tackling challenges in a short time, prioritising people's freedom and national sovereignty, and the Prime Minister's statesmanlike leadership. He said these achievements have opened a new horizon in the country's political history while paving the way for building a prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh.

Justice and Law Enforcement: The verdict in the rape and murder case of child Ramisa was delivered within 19 days, and the Meherpur child rape case verdict within 29 working days. Ten verdicts were announced on priority basis under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Mozaffar Hossain, the killer of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, was arrested after 45 years. The monthly charge on prepaid electricity meters was withdrawn, and a nationwide tree plantation programme of 25 crore trees was launched. The government also announced the introduction of 250 modern electric buses for Dhaka.

Healthcare and Education: Upazila hospitals are being upgraded to 101-bed facilities, with health units to be established in every union and urban ward. The government launched the Primary Gold Cup Football Tournament involving 22 lakh students, arranged Start-up and Idea Competitions, and increased scholarships at all levels.

Mahdi said the government's 150 days in office represent a foundation-laying period for a democratic country. "Starting from the ruins of a devastated system and accomplishing such an enormous volume of work in just five months is possible only when a government enjoys the unwavering support and confidence of the people."

He concluded: "By renouncing a life of luxury, the hon'ble Prime Minister has set a unique, people-oriented and compassionate example in state governance, earning the deep trust and confidence of the country's people. Every step he has taken—whether standing beside people affected by disasters or leading a simple life without protocol—has demonstrated that he represents people of every class, profession, religion, caste, and ethnic community. He is the Prime Minister of the masses."
