Dhaka, Aug 6 (V7N) - Prime Minister's Finance and Planning Adviser Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir has said Bangladesh's existing fragile economy must be transformed into a trillion-dollar one, converging the nation's development trajectory and its five-year strategic plan with global frameworks including the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Paris Agreement.
He stressed the need for private-capital mobilisation and global climate funds to match national ambition with speed and concessionality, while reflecting on the premier's philosophy as outlined in BNP's election manifesto.
The adviser made the suggestions while addressing the closing session of a High-Level Policy Dialogue hosted by ERD on the theme "Building Bangladesh a Trillion-Dollar Climate-Resilient Economy: Accelerating Climate Finance Mobilisation through Designing Strategic & Investment-Ready Climate Projects." The event, organized under the Bangladesh Climate Development Partnership (BCDP), marked the 33rd initiative of ERD's International Climate Finance Cell (ICFC) with technical support from ADB.
ERD Secretary Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky noted that Bangladesh is losing a great deal due to climate change and must focus sharply on climate financing, calling for a strong structure to crowd in private investment while acknowledging the country remains behind in readiness to submit proposals to international climate funds.
ADB Country Director Qingfeng Zhang reaffirmed ADB's continued commitment to partnering with Bangladesh on climate-resilient development and emphasized designing bankable, investment-ready projects.
AKM Sohel, Wing Chief of ERD's UN Wing, delivered keynote presentations framing climate literacy as the vital bridge between scientific reality and financial feasibility, outlining the strategic pathway to transform climate science into fundable theories of change.
The dialogue brought together policy leaders, IFIs, private-sector executives, civil society, and academia as part of ICFC's flagship capacity-building programme, "From Vision to Approval: Unlocking GCF Finance through High-Impact Concept Notes."
