Sunday was the scheduled date for the hearing at the court of Judge Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka's Special Judge Court-5. The lawyer for the accused could not appear in court due to illness and requested an adjournment. The court granted the request and set November 23 for the hearing on the issue.

During the proceedings, Shafi Moddassir Khan Jyoti, who is currently in custody, was produced before the court. Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and the other accused remain at large.

Ariful Islam, a bench assistant at the court, confirmed this information to BSS.

On October 9, 2024, the ACC filed a case against Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on charges of acquiring illegal assets. Following the completion of an investigation, the ACC submitted a charge sheet to the court on December 18 last year against four individuals.

The case alleged that Asaduzzaman Khan, in his capacity as a public servant, engaged in criminal misconduct and abused power to acquire assets worth Taka 22,58,40,162 that are disproportionate to his known sources of income. Furthermore, it is alleged that the accused conducted transactions totalling Taka 87,46,26,933 across nine bank accounts. He is accused of converting, transferring or moving these funds derived from "corruption and bribery" with the intent to conceal or disguise their illicit origin.

The next hearing is set for November 23, when the court is expected to proceed with charge framing if the defence is represented.
