The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a 72-hour heat alert as the country grapples with a relentless heatwave expected to persist for the next three days. With temperatures soaring to 41.3°C, discomfort is exacerbated by high humidity levels.

The Chuadanga region recorded the highest temperature, marking the fourth consecutive day of scorching heat. The negligible difference between day and night temperatures has made life unbearable, particularly for low-income workers engaged in physical labor.

Authorities are using loudspeakers to warn residents to minimize outdoor activities, especially for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly. Concerns over heat-related illnesses have prompted calls for educational institutions to remain closed until the heatwave subsides.

While some relief may come from intermittent rains and thundershowers in certain regions, the forecast suggests that the intense heatwave will persist, underscoring the need for precautions to mitigate its impact on public health and well-being.
