Teknaf June 22 - A clash between the Arakan Army (AA) and Myanmar Armd forces in Rakhine state overnight saw mortar shells and gunfire on the Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar Bangladesh .

This is increasing fear among Bangladeshis living in the border areas. The sound of mortar shells from the other side of Myanmar on the Naf River border of Shahpori Island from Hnila in Teknaf to Shahpori Island has spread panic from last Friday evening to Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, in view of firing from the Myanmar border towards Bangladesh, communication with the mainland and the country's only coral island St. Martin has been closed for the past 14 days.

It is feared that the shortage of essential commodities in the island may intensify due to the closure of the Naf river route. About 10,500 people living on the island are worried about this.

Border Guard Bangladesh( BGB) Teknaf-2 battalion commander Lt. Col. Mohiuddin Ahmed said that BGB members are ready to deal with any situation besides preventing border infiltration.
