Dhaka, Nov 13 (V7N)- BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi claimed that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina compromised Bangladesh's sovereignty to India solely to maintain her grip on power. He called on the interim government to disclose all agreements made with India between 2009 and August 5, 2024, suggesting that these deals damaged the nation.

Speaking at a free eye care camp in Banani for low-wage workers and those injured during the July-August protests, Rizvi criticized the power deal with India's Adani Power. "Adani's production costs are lower than Bangladesh's, yet we pay Tk12 per unit—an unprecedented rate worldwide," he said, alleging that Hasina's motivations were personal rather than national, hinting that the deal provided financial security for her.

Rizvi further accused Hasina of prioritizing relations with India over Bangladesh’s welfare, referencing a comment from her foreign minister that likened Bangladesh-India relations to a marital relationship, which he claimed revealed Hasina's loyalty to India.

Addressing market issues, Rizvi criticized the interim government for failing to control commodity prices and disrupt market syndicates linked to Awami League interests. “The prices of essentials like onions, sugar, potatoes, and oil have not dropped despite tariff reductions because no syndicate members were held accountable,” he argued.

Rizvi also accused the interim government of favoring pro-AL health officials at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, alleging that doctors with BNP affiliations faced bias in promotions and transfers. He asserted that the sector should prioritize technical expertise over political affiliations for appointments and advancements.
