Dhaka, Nov 26 (V7N) – The BNP has submitted 62 proposals to the Constitutional Reform Commission, including the reintroduction of the positions of vice president and deputy prime minister, aiming to bring balance to the country's power structure.

The proposals also advocate for limiting a prime minister’s tenure to two consecutive terms, establishing a second parliamentary chamber, and introducing provisions for referendums.

A two-member BNP delegation, led by Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, submitted the recommendations to Prof. Ali Riaz, head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, at the Parliament Building on Tuesday.

Salahuddin told reporters that the proposals address the need for a balance of power among the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches.

"We have proposed changes to the judiciary and suggested the creation of vice president and deputy prime minister positions. These recommendations reflect the people's aspirations and aim to distribute power effectively," Salahuddin said.

The commission will present these proposals to the government for review, with Salahuddin expressing hope for discussions with other political parties to achieve consensus on their implementation.
