Savar, Jan 20 (V7N) — Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin officially launched the voter list update process at the Savar Upazila Parishad auditorium today at 11:30 am, signalling the start of the electoral process.
Speaking at the inauguration, the CEC described the initiative as a critical step toward ensuring free and fair elections. "The voting train has started rolling with the voter list update program," he said, emphasising the importance of this effort in strengthening democratic rights.
Reflecting on the significance of the August 5th Revolution, the CEC remarked, "It has given us an opportunity to establish the right to vote, and we must utilise it fully." He stressed that the goal is to create an environment where citizens can cast their votes without fear or intimidation.
The CEC also assured that the Election Commission is committed to ensuring the integrity of polling stations on election day. "We will ensure that no one can occupy the centre. Social resistance must be built against all kinds of irregularities," he stated.
The voter list update program is a crucial step in preparing for the upcoming elections, with the Election Commission aiming to include all eligible voters and ensure their participation in a transparent and inclusive democratic process.
