Rajshahi, Feb 07, (V7N) - On Thursday, February 6, a mob attacked and set fire to the house of former State Minister Shahriar Alam, the ex-Member of Parliament for Rajshahi-6 (Charghat-Bagha) constituency.

The incident occurred around 12:00 PM in the four-story building located in the Chakshinga area of Arani, Bagha upazila. The caretaker of the house, Jasim Uddin, reported that a group of people gathered in front of the house around noon. They then attacked the building, damaging it, before setting it on fire and leaving the scene. Firefighters arrived shortly afterward and managed to control the blaze.

Due to Shahriar Alam's absence following the fall of the Awami League government, it was not possible to contact him for comment on the incident.

Bagha Fire Service Station Officer Mizanur Rahman confirmed that the fire had been extinguished, and the fire service team has since returned to the station.

Bagha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asaduzzaman stated that the situation in the area is now calm, and no further disturbances have been reported.
