Dhaka, May 4 (V7N) — BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is set to return to Dhaka on Tuesday aboard a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar. She is scheduled to depart from London on Monday, BNP's media wing confirmed in a statement issued late Saturday night.

Although her exact time of arrival in Dhaka has not yet been disclosed, BNP officials have said that further details will be shared once confirmed.

BNP Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, also confirmed her travel schedule, saying, "The Chairperson will board the air ambulance from London on Monday and is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday."

Earlier in the evening, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated during a press conference in Gulshan that the air ambulance has been arranged by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in recognition of Khaleda Zia's ongoing health concerns.

“She is returning home after four months, on May 5. As far as we know, two of her daughters-in-law—Zubaida Rahman, wife of Tarique Rahman, and Syeda Sharmila Rahman, wife of Arafat Rahman—will accompany her,” Fakhrul added.

When asked about Khaleda Zia’s current condition, Fakhrul responded, “Alhamdulillah, she is definitely doing better than before.”

Preparations are already underway at Khaleda Zia’s residence in Gulshan, known as “Firoza.” Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, stated that the house has been cleaned and readied for her return.

Khaleda Zia had left for London on January 8 to receive advanced medical treatment. The air ambulance, part of the Qatari royal fleet, was specially arranged by the Emir in response to her deteriorating health.
