Mongla, Sept 20 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has launched a leaflet campaign and public outreach program in support of the proportional representation (PR) system in Mongla. The campaign began at 11 a.m. on Friday from Sheikh Abdul Hai Road in the municipal town.
The event was led by Advocate Sheikh Abdul Wadud, Naib-e-Ameer of Jamaat’s Bagerhat district unit and the party’s nominated candidate for the Mongla-Rampal parliamentary constituency. He, along with local party leaders and activists, distributed leaflets and conducted door-to-door outreach across various neighborhoods of Mongla municipality to raise awareness and build public opinion in favor of the PR system.
Speaking during the campaign, Sheikh Abdul Wadud said that Jamaat leaders and workers were directly engaging with residents to mobilize support for the PR system in the upcoming national elections. “We are going door to door to form public opinion in favor of the proportional representation method. We want people to support this movement. We were with the people before, we remain with them now, and we want to build a society free from corruption, extortion, land grabbing, and based on justice,” he said.
Several Jamaat leaders accompanied Wadud in the campaign, including municipal Ameer M.A. Bari, Naib-e-Ameer Mufti Maulana Moniruzzaman, Upazila Naib-e-Ameer Kohinur Sardar, Ward-5 municipal Jamaat president Jasim Uddin Khondaker, and secretary Md. Mainuddin Milon, along with other party activists.
