Dhaka, Sept 13 (V7N) – Celebrated Bangladeshi folk singer Farida Parveen passed away on Friday night at 10:30 p.m. while receiving treatment at Universal Hospital in Mohakhali, (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un). She was 73 years old and is survived by her husband and four children.

Farida Parveen had been suffering from kidney-related complications for an extended period. Following a dialysis session on September 2, her health condition deteriorated, prompting doctors to admit her to the hospital for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her illness.

Known as the “Queen of Lalon Songs,” Farida Parveen had a distinguished career spanning several decades, earning national and international recognition for her contribution to Bangladeshi folk music. She played a pivotal role in popularizing Lalon Geeti and preserving the country’s musical heritage.

Her death marks a significant loss for the Bangladeshi music community and her fans worldwide, who mourn the passing of a legendary artist.
