Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N) — Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has urged all political parties to remain united in the national interest despite differences in ideology.
Speaking at the 6th founding anniversary of the People's Rights Council at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon, Golam Parwar warned that various superpowers and agencies may attempt to create obstacles as the nation moves toward building a Bangladesh free from fascism.
“The journey towards the national elections must be advanced through unity,” he said, emphasizing the need for collective commitment to democratic progress.
Congratulating the People's Rights Council on its anniversary, the Jamaat leader said the organization was founded through a struggle for the realization of fundamental human rights. He also condemned the torture inflicted on student leaders such as VP Noor by what he termed the “thugs of the previous fascist regime,” saying that such acts have been rejected by the people.
Leaders and representatives from various political parties attended the event.
