Dhaka, Nov 6 (V7N)- Eight like-minded political parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, have launched a protest march in the capital, demanding the immediate implementation of the July National Charter and a referendum in November, among other issues.

On Thursday (November 6), the coalition of right-wing political groups gathered at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel before marching towards Paltan.

Prominent leaders, including Mujibur Rahman and Mia Golam Parwar, led the procession. Following a brief rally at Paltan, the alliance announced plans to submit a memorandum to the Chief Advisor outlining their five key demands.

Their five-point charter of demands includes:

1. Issuing an order to implement the July National Charter and holding a referendum on it by November.

2. Introducing a proportional representation (PR) system in both the lower and upper houses in the next national election.

3. Ensuring a level playing field for all parties to guarantee free, fair, and acceptable elections.

4. Initiating visible trials for all alleged atrocities, genocide, and corruption committed by the so-called “fascist government.”

5. Imposing a ban on the political activities of the “allies of tyranny”—the Jatiya Party and the 14-party alliance.

Security was heightened in the surrounding areas during the march, with a strong police presence deployed to maintain order.
