Jhalokathi, Dec 11 (V7N) – The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has nominated Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu as its candidate for the Jhalokathi-1 (Rajapur–Kathalia) constituency ahead of the upcoming national election. Her nomination was formally announced at a press conference held at the party’s central office on Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Mitu, a resident of Kathalia upazila, has been selected with a focus on advancing local development, improving healthcare services, expanding women’s education and promoting a more equitable society, party officials said.
According to NCP leaders, Dr. Mitu has long been involved in social service, humanitarian activities and healthcare initiatives. Her grassroots acceptance, integrity and positive public reputation were major factors behind her selection as the party’s nominee.
Responding to her nomination, Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu said her primary goal is to work for the development of the constituency with the trust and support of the people. She added that she aims to address the longstanding deprivation faced by residents of Rajapur and Kathalia, emphasizing improvements in education, healthcare, and women and youth empowerment.
Following the announcement, enthusiasm was observed among local party leaders and activists, who believe that her entry into the race will make the upcoming electoral contest more competitive and dynamic.
