Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N) — Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar questioned how the killers of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi managed to flee, criticizing the government for failing to arrest them. He also called for an investigation into the role of intelligence agencies and whether anyone within them may have assisted the killers.
Parwar made these remarks during a prayer ceremony held on Sunday at the Al-Falah Milayat in Moghbazar, Dhaka, in honor of the late Sharif Osman Hadi. Criticizing the chief adviser’s speech at Hadi’s funeral, Parwar noted that while Dr. Yunus delivered an emotional eulogy, he did not address the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators. He emphasized that the government must clarify its position regarding the investigation, supporting the 24-hour ultimatum issued by Inqilab Mancha demanding action against Hadi’s killers.
Omar bin Hadi, elder brother of Osman Hadi, said his younger brother had taken to the streets to free the country from domination and oppression, striving to establish justice-based governance.
The ceremony, conducted under the guidance of Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Abdul Halim, featured speeches from Assistant Secretary General Maulana A. T. M. Mashum, Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, and city leaders including Amir Nurul Islam Bulbul (Dhaka South) and Amir Selim Uddin (Dhaka North).
Earlier on Sunday, after the Fajr prayer, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited Hadi’s grave. The visit was attended by leaders from Jamaat and Islami Chhatra Shibir, including President Zahidul Islam, Office Secretary Sibgatullah, DUCSU Vice President Sadiq Kayem, and General Secretary S. M. Farhad. The gathering paid tribute to Hadi’s sacrifice and reiterated calls for swift justice against the perpetrators.
