Dhaka, Jan 27 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) has said that more than 4.12 lakh expatriate voters have already cast their votes in the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum, scheduled for February 12.

The EC shared an update on expatriate voting activities conducted through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ mobile app.

Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the OCV-SDI project on expatriate voter registration, disclosed the information on Tuesday.

He said that as of 10:30 am on January 27, ballot papers for 7,66,862 expatriate voters who registered through the Postal Vote BD app had reached their respective destination countries.

Of them, 4,93,920 voters have received their ballots, while 4,25,788 expatriate voters have already completed voting. Among those, 3,70,322 voters have deposited their ballots in post offices or designated post boxes in their respective countries.

Additionally, ballots cast by 21,508 expatriate voters have already reached Bangladesh, he added.

Salim Ahmad Khan further said that a total of 15,33,683 voters, both domestic and expatriate, have registered to vote in the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum through the Postal Vote BD app.
