Dhaka, Jan 29 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) has instructed all returning officers to take necessary measures to ensure that no posters are used in election campaigns by contesting candidates in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections and that the code of conduct is strictly followed.
The directive was issued in a letter signed by EC Secretariat Deputy Secretary (Election Management-2 Branch) Mohammad Monir Hossain on Wednesday.
According to the letter, campaign activities by candidates are currently underway for the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on February 12, 2026. It reiterated that while candidates may conduct election campaigns, the use of posters of any kind is strictly prohibited.
The letter further noted that although certain campaign materials such as leaflets or handbills, festoons, banners, and billboards are mentioned in the election rules, posters are not permitted under any circumstances during the campaign period.
The EC has asked all returning officers to ensure compliance with the code of conduct for political parties and candidates, prevent the use of posters by any candidate, and issue instructions to printing presses not to print election posters.
The directive aims to maintain discipline in election campaigning and ensure a clean and orderly electoral environment ahead of the polls.
