Thakurgaon, Feb 11 (V7N) — The actual amount of money found with Thakurgaon District Jamaat Ameer Belal Uddin Pradhan, who was arrested at Syedpur Airport, has been confirmed as Tk 7.4 million following a count by authorities.

Earlier, Belal Uddin had claimed in a video message that he had 50–60 million taka, which he said was money from his business. During initial questioning, he identified himself as a teacher at Salandar Degree College and stated that the cash in his luggage was from his garment business. Jamaat has maintained that the money is business-related and described the arrest as a staged drama.

Law enforcement sources said the Jamaat leader has been asked to provide proof of the source of the money; failure to do so may lead to legal action. Airport officials stated that the cash was discovered during a routine search, and Belal Uddin was arrested when he could not give a satisfactory explanation. Another individual, Mannan, was also taken into custody in connection with the case.

Belal Uddin reportedly fell ill during interrogation and was initially taken to Syedpur 100-Bed Hospital, before being transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
