Dhaka, August 5 - BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is expected to be released soon, according to the party's Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The announcement came following a meeting with President Md. Sahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Monday night.

Mirza Fakhrul expressed the party's commitment to restoring order and supporting the ongoing movement for change. He stated that Tariq Rahman, the acting chairperson of BNP, has given his full support to the movement despite not being present in the country. Efforts are being made to bring him back to Bangladesh.

Addressing BNP leaders and activists, Mirza Fakhrul urged restraint and vigilance. "I appeal to the leaders and activists at all levels of the party to protect the country from the chaos that has ensued. Do not allow any opportunity for miscreants to exploit the situation. We must safeguard the nation from external threats and support the leaders of the student movement," he said.

He also called for unity and cooperation with the military forces to rebuild the country. Emphasizing the need for patience and calm, he conveyed a message from Khaleda Zia, who urged the public to maintain peace.

Mirza Fakhrul reiterated the party's stance on ensuring the protection of minorities and urged all political parties to work together to maintain law and order. "We must show moderation, avoid anger and hatred, and especially ensure the safety and protection of minority communities," he concluded.

The BNP's call for unity and restraint comes amid a period of significant political change and uncertainty in Bangladesh, following the resignation and departure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
