USA, Apr 17 (V7N) –Five-time Massachusetts state champion Jake Islam, young gymnast based in the USA, is likely to play for Bangladesh.

Jake has Bangladeshi origin from his father, Ashequl Islam. His mother’s name is Melissa. He was born on September 23, 2005 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Initiatives have been taken to prepare his Bangladesh passport, confirmed Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation official Wednesday.

“Jake is studying in Michigan University and plays for their main team. He is good at floor, vaulting and pommel horse. He can get call from the national team for the next Olympics in USA, like Syque Caesar,” federation’s general secretary Habibur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune.

Bangladeshi-origin American gymnast Syque Caesar earlier represented Bangladesh at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Jake was Massachusetts state champion five times from 2018 to 2023.

He also participated in the USA Championships in 2022.
