Dhaka, Apr 17 (V7N) –Bangladesh Athletics Federation has suspended athlete Jahir Rayhan from all kinds of national and international activities for six months.
Jahir took part in the 400m event of the competition. He finished sixth in heat 6. Overall, he placed 25th out of 29 participants.
He complained of a lack of facilities in the preparation camp.
It was also mentioned in the federation’s statement that Jahir breached discipline by not joining the national athletics training camp after return from China.
Jahir informed the federation that he had instead trained at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan.
In the letter, he also came up with same allegation of insufficient facilities at the camp.
He requested the federation to provide food and accommodation in BKSP.
Federation show caused him for aforementioned activities on April 8.
Training and selection committee of the federation then took the decision to ban Jahir from the national training camp, all national and international competitions and relevant activities for six months starting from Wednesday.
“I’m surprised. I don’t understand how talking truth can be considered offence,” Jahir told Dhaka Tribune in his immediate reaction.
Jahir said he would discuss with his organization, Bangladesh Navy, before taking any kind of step against the suspension.
