Dhaka, Nov 22 (V7N) — Bangladesh strengthened their position in the Test match by reaching 187 for 3 at stumps on the fourth day, extending their overall lead to a commanding margin.

The Tigers resumed the day on 156 for 1, already leading by 367 runs, but lost Shadman Islam early. The opener, who played a solid knock, was bowled by McBrain for 78 runs.

Skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto failed for the second time in the match, departing for just 1 run, leaving Bangladesh at 174 for 3.

Earlier in the first innings, Bangladesh posted a strong total of 476 runs.

In reply, Ireland were bundled out for 265, largely due to the impressive bowling performance of Taijul Islam. Despite having the option to enforce the follow-on, captain Shanto opted to bat again, giving his side more time to build an unassailable lead.

Bangladesh will head into the final day firmly in control, aiming to push for victory.
