DHAKA, June 6, (V7N) – The Bangladesh Women's cricket team arrived in England on Friday to participate in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup following their campaign in a preparatory tri-nation series in Scotland.
The team travelled to London directly from Edinburgh after competing in the T20 tournament featuring hosts Scotland and the Netherlands.
Bangladesh endured a difficult start to the series, losing their opening matches against both Scotland and the Netherlands. However, they bounced back strongly in the second round, securing victories over both opponents to regain momentum ahead of the global tournament.
Opener Dilara Akter emerged as one of the standout performers, smashing the fastest half-century by a Bangladeshi batter in Women's T20 Internationals. She reached the milestone in just 22 balls against the Netherlands, helping Bangladesh secure a 13-run victory.
Scotland topped the tri-series standings with six points, while Bangladesh finished second with four points.
Team officials viewed the tournament as valuable preparation for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup, providing players with crucial match practice and acclimatisation to conditions ahead of the competition.
Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on June 14.
They will then face formidable group-stage opponents, including Australia, Pakistan, India and South Africa as they seek a place in the knockout stage of the tournament.
