Stardock has rolled out the latest update, version 2.06, for its Start11 app, introducing new features, bug fixes, and quality-of-life enhancements to enhance the Windows Start menu experience.
The update, driven by user feedback, aims to make Start11 v2 the most advanced Start menu experience for Windows, shaped by the needs of daily users.
While the update is set to roll out automatically, users can manually trigger the update by launching the app and checking for newer versions.
Many users have expressed dissatisfaction with the Windows 11 Start menu, citing its flawed design and strict minimum requirements as deterrents to upgrading from Windows 10. Despite Microsoft's efforts to encourage the transition, including aggressive pop-up ads, and the impending end-of-support for Windows 10 in October 2025, user reluctance persists.
Although Microsoft has made incremental improvements to the Start menu, they may not be sufficient for most users. Consequently, there has been a surge in third-party software tools like the Files app, which offers an alternative to Windows 11's File Explorer, aimed at addressing user concerns.
Start11 stands out as a customization software allowing users to tweak the appearance of the Start menu on both Windows 11 and 10. The latest update introduces a new auto-hide option for the taskbar, enhancing user flexibility and customization options.
