Dhaka, Dec 29 (V7N) — In a major update for Gmail users, tech giant Google is set to introduce a long-awaited feature that will allow users to change their Gmail address without opening a new Google account.

Until now, once a Gmail address was created, it could not be changed. However, according to Google’s internal documents, users will soon be able to update their email address while keeping their existing Google account, data, and services intact.

Even after changing the address, the old Gmail address will remain active, meaning users will continue to receive emails sent to the previous address. This will enable users to manage multiple email addresses under a single Google account without the risk of losing important messages.

Initially, the feature will be rolled out for users with custom domain email accounts. Google has confirmed that general Gmail users will also receive this option gradually in later phases. However, the company has not yet announced a specific global rollout date.

In addition to this update, Google is also introducing a new artificial intelligence-powered feature in Gmail called “Help Me Schedule.” Powered by Google’s AI model Gemini, the tool can automatically suggest suitable meeting times by analyzing a user’s calendar and email conversations, making scheduling faster and more efficient.

The new features are expected to significantly improve flexibility and productivity for Gmail users in both personal and professional settings.
