Kolkata, Jan 07, (V7N) - A group of 220 Bangladeshis is currently stranded at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata after their flight from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka was forced to make an emergency landing due to dense fog. The passengers, traveling on Malindo Air flight OD-162, were scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 3 AM on Sunday, but the plane was diverted to Kolkata due to poor visibility.

The passengers have expressed frustration as more than 16 hours have passed since the emergency landing, yet no efforts have been made to return them to Bangladesh. Many have reported a lack of basic amenities, including drinking water, and have not been given clear information regarding when they will be able to return home.

Authorities at Kolkata airport have stated that the passengers are still at the transit point and are being provided with essential services, including water. However, the passengers have voiced concerns about the inadequate care, with some reporting serious health issues. Despite repeated attempts to contact the airline’s regional office in India and its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, the passengers have not received any response.

As of now, authorities have not provided a specific timeline for when the stranded passengers will be able to board a flight to Bangladesh.
