Dhaka, Mar 26 (V7N) – Indian President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have extended their heartfelt greetings to Bangladesh on the occasion of its Independence Day.

In a congratulatory message addressed to Bangladesh’s President Mohammad Shahabuddin, President Murmu expressed warm wishes on behalf of the Government and people of India.

"On behalf of the Government of India, the people of India, and on my own behalf, I extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the National Day," she stated.

Highlighting the deep-rooted India-Bangladesh ties, she emphasized their multi-faceted cooperation, spanning trade, connectivity, energy, education, and cultural exchanges. She reaffirmed that Bangladesh remains at the heart of India's ‘Neighborhood First’ and ‘Look East Policy’, as well as its broader Indo-Pacific vision.

"India reiterates its support for a democratic, stable, inclusive, peaceful, and progressive Bangladesh," President Murmu added.

Meanwhile, in a separate message to Bangladesh's Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his warm regards.

"I extend my greetings to you and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Bangladesh's National Day," he stated.

Prime Minister Modi reflected on the shared history and sacrifices that bind the two nations, reaffirming that the spirit of Bangladesh’s Liberation War continues to inspire their strong bilateral relations.

"Our relationship has evolved in various fields, bringing positive benefits to our peoples. It will continue to be guided by our mutual sensitivities, interests, and concerns to promote peace, stability, and prosperity," he affirmed.

These messages from India’s top leadership underscore the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries, reinforcing their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
