Tehran, Apr 07 (V7N) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed the prospect of direct talks with the United States over Iran's nuclear program, calling them "meaningless." His comments came in a statement on Sunday, in response to remarks by US President Donald Trump, who last month sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to discuss limiting Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Araghchi questioned Washington's sincerity in seeking dialogue while simultaneously issuing threats, particularly after Trump warned that "if no deal is made, Iran will be bombed."
"If you want talks, what is the point of threatening?" Araghchi asked, casting doubt on the United States' willingness to negotiate in good faith.
While the United States and other Western nations have accused Iran of attempting to develop nuclear weapons, Tehran has steadfastly denied these allegations. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, primarily energy production, and has repeatedly stated that it is not pursuing the development of nuclear arms.
The standoff continues to be a major source of tension in international relations, with the United States pushing for more stringent restrictions and Iran resisting any measures that it perceives as compromising its sovereignty or security.
