New Delhi, May 07 (V7N) – Tensions flared between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan as both countries exchanged missile attacks across the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday night, resulting in casualties and destruction on both sides.

According to Geo News, Pakistan's armed forces launched retaliatory strikes following Indian missile attacks that reportedly hit multiple locations in Pakistan. The Pakistani military claimed to have destroyed five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets, a drone, and the brigade headquarters of the Indian Army in their response.

Express Tribune reported that a Pakistani missile struck an Indian Army post in the Dudanial sector of the LoC, resulting in its destruction.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Directorate General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DGFI) accused India of launching overnight missile attacks, which left eight people dead and 35 injured. Among the reported targets were two mosques in Ahmedpur and Kotli, prompting sharp condemnation from Pakistani military officials who alleged that the attacks reflected the Hindutva ideology of India’s ruling establishment.

A missile also struck a road in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, though no casualties were reported there.

Meanwhile, the Indian Armed Forces confirmed conducting a series of coordinated strikes under 'Operation Sindoor', targeting what it described as terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). A total of nine sites were reportedly hit, though India claimed that no Pakistani military personnel were targeted.

In a statement, the Indian military said:

“Operation Sindoor was conducted to neutralize terror infrastructure used to plan and launch attacks on Indian soil. The strikes were precise and limited to militant facilities.”

The latest exchange marks a sharp escalation in hostilities between the two countries and raises concerns over broader regional stability. No official response has yet come from the international community.
