Riyadh, May 14 (V7N) – A significant part of US President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia was a tour of the At-Turaif district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where he was shown around Diriyah by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Diriyah, the original residence of the Saudi royal family, is now being transformed into a world-class cultural and heritage city.
During the visit, the two leaders explored Salwa Palace and the traditional mud-brick architecture of At-Turaif, which is regarded as the birthplace of the Saudi state and an enduring symbol of national pride and identity. The Saudi Gazette reported that Trump was impressed by the fusion of heritage preservation with modern urban development.
The visit also highlighted the ambitious Diriyah Revitalization Project, which is part of Saudi Arabia's broader Vision 2030 plan for cultural and national development. This project, launched in 2017 by royal decree, is expected to play a major role in the country’s growth as it approaches the 300th anniversary of Saudi Arabia's founding in 2027.
Trump praised the project as "exemplary and inspiring" for its efforts to integrate cultural heritage with modernity. During the visit, Jerry Inzaghi, CEO of Diriyah Company, provided Trump with an update on the progress of the revitalization.
The visit coincided with the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, where discussions on new strategic and economic partnerships between the two nations were being explored.
