Tehran, June 24 (V7N) – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that both Iran and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire aimed at halting the ongoing hostilities between the two nations. However, Iran has categorically denied receiving any such proposal, asserting that no ceasefire offer has been made — and even if it had, Tehran sees no need to consider it.
In an exclusive statement to CNN, a senior Iranian government official dismissed the claim as misleading and manipulative. “We have not received any ceasefire proposal, nor do we believe such a proposal is necessary,” the official said, adding that Iran sees the statements coming from Israel and the United States as part of a broader campaign of deception.
"These statements are part of a calculated ploy to legitimize aggression against Iran. The enemy is currently carrying out attacks on Iranian territory, and we are now in the final phase of intensifying our retaliatory operations," the Iranian official stated.
He further emphasized that Iran is not influenced by what he termed as the “falsehoods of the enemy,” and warned that Tehran will not remain passive in the face of foreign aggression. “We are not paying attention to the enemy’s lies. Iran will continue its strategic response until justice is achieved,” he said.
The U.S. announcement of a ceasefire came amid rapidly escalating violence between Iran and Israel, including missile exchanges and cyberattacks, raising fears of a broader regional war. President Trump had characterized the supposed agreement as a “total and comprehensive ceasefire” expected to take effect within 24 hours.
However, Iran’s denial reveals a sharp disconnect between Washington’s diplomatic messaging and Tehran’s current strategic posture. Experts believe this divergence reflects the deep mistrust that defines the current geopolitical climate in the Middle East, where announcements by one side are often perceived as strategic disinformation by the other.
While the U.S. and its allies frame the ceasefire claim as a diplomatic breakthrough, Iran’s response signals that any resolution is still far from reach. With tensions continuing to rise and rhetoric hardening, the likelihood of a near-term de-escalation remains uncertain.
