Tel Aviv, June 24 (V7N) – Tensions have flared once again in the Middle East, as Iran has reportedly resumed missile attacks targeting Israeli territory, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The renewed hostilities come despite recent announcements of a tentative ceasefire between the two adversaries.

In a report confirmed by Al Jazeera, the IDF stated that it had identified missile launches originating from Iranian territory aimed at Israeli targets. Specific details regarding the number of missiles or the extent of any damage have yet to be released. However, military officials in Israel have confirmed that missile detection systems were triggered, prompting the country’s air defense units to activate in response.

"We have detected missile fire launched from Iran toward Israeli territory," the IDF said in a brief statement. "Our air defense systems are operational and working to intercept any incoming threats."

The Israeli military further noted that air defense operations around Tel Aviv have been intensified to counter the threat. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and to take immediate shelter upon receiving warning alerts. “Civilians are advised to follow all safety instructions and seek secure shelter as soon as alarms are sounded,” the IDF advised.

This new round of missile fire marks a sharp escalation, effectively undermining the ceasefire agreement that was expected to take effect within 24 hours, as previously announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and later conditionally confirmed by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Just hours before the attack, Araghchi had stated that Iran would hold fire as long as Israel refrained from striking Tehran. With fresh hostilities now underway, the fragile diplomatic window appears to be rapidly closing.

International observers have expressed concern that the situation could now spiral into a broader regional conflict if immediate steps are not taken to de-escalate. There has been no immediate response from Iranian officials regarding the IDF’s claim.

This latest development casts serious doubt on the viability of the proposed truce and further complicates diplomatic efforts to restore calm. Both regional and global powers are closely monitoring the situation, as any further military action risks triggering wider instability across the Middle East.
