Abu Dhabi, Oct 04 (V7N) – According to preliminary calculations by the United Arab Emirates Astronomical Organization, the holy month of Ramadan is expected to begin on Thursday, February 19, 2026, placing it 139 days away from today.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the organization, stated that the start of Ramadan will be determined based on the sighting of the new moon. The moon is predicted to be born on Tuesday, February 17, at 4:01 pm Abu Dhabi time.
However, Al Jarwan noted that the new moon will set just one minute after sunset, making it invisible on that evening. Consequently, the first day of Ramadan will be officially confirmed by the moon-sighting committee, likely falling on Thursday, February 19.
He further explained that the fasting duration in Abu Dhabi will be about 12 hours and 46 minutes at the beginning of the month and will gradually extend to 13 hours and 25 minutes by the end. The daylight duration will start at 11 hours and 32 minutes and reach 12 hours and 12 minutes by the month’s conclusion.
