Mindanao, Oct 10 (V7N) – A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Mindanao region of the Philippines on Friday (October 10) morning, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning, according to BBC.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the quake had a depth of approximately 62 kilometres (38 miles).
While there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage, the tremor was so intense that buildings swayed in various areas, forcing residents to flee their homes in panic.
This earthquake follows a series of recent seismic events in the Philippines. Just last week, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu province killed at least 74 people, and a 4.8-magnitude quake struck northern Philippines on Thursday (October 9).
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have urged residents to remain vigilant amid potential aftershocks.
