Washington, October 13 (V7N) — U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that the two-year war in Gaza has officially come to an end, expressing optimism that the Middle East will now move toward stability and peace.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One before departing from Washington for Israel on Sunday (October 12), President Trump said, “The war is over. Everyone is celebrating together. I am proud to be a part of this process.”
A ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into effect at noon local time on Friday (October 10), marking a significant breakthrough after prolonged hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
As part of the truce, Hamas released seven Israeli hostages on Sunday (October 13). Those freed have been identified as Gali Berman, Ziv Berman, Eitan Abraham Mor, Omri Miran, Matan Angrest, Alon Ahel, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced plans to release approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails as part of the negotiated agreement.
The declaration marks a potentially historic step toward ending one of the most protracted and devastating conflicts in the region, with both sides indicating a willingness to uphold the ceasefire.
