Dhaka, Feb 14 (V7N) — Anti-government protests have erupted across Pakistan as supporters of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan took to the streets demanding proper medical care and justice.
According to a report by Dawn, demonstrations were held in several major cities, including Karachi, where protesters carried posters and banners while chanting slogans against the government.
The protests followed claims by Khan’s lawyer that the former prime minister has lost about 85 percent of vision in his right eye, sparking concern among his supporters.
Khan, who leads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has reportedly been suffering from serious vision complications since October last year. PTI alleged that his medical treatment in prison has been neglected and claimed he was asked to sign an incorrect consent form related to treatment.
However, authorities have rejected the allegations, stating that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure proper medical care for the 73-year-old former premier.
The developments have heightened political tensions in the country, with observers warning that continued unrest could further strain Pakistan’s already polarized political environment.
