India Feb 23 (V7N)- India’s indigenously developed fighter aircraft HAL Tejas has been involved in another accident, crashing while landing at an air base during a training mission, according to the Indian Air Force.

The air force said the incident occurred on February 7, but the details were made public on Sunday (February 22). The aircraft reportedly sustained heavy damage after experiencing a mechanical failure during landing. The pilot survived and did not suffer serious injuries.

This marks the third major accident involving the Tejas platform in recent times.

  • The first incident occurred in March 2024 near Jaisalmer, when a Tejas aircraft crashed while returning from an exhibition. The pilot safely ejected after losing control during the final phase of landing.

  • The second incident took place in November 2025 during the Dubai Air Show, when a Tejas jet crashed during a demonstration flight, resulting in the death of the pilot. Investigations into that crash are still ongoing.

The latest incident is expected to renew scrutiny over safety and technical reliability as India continues to expand deployment of the indigenous fighter program.
