Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf party chief Imran Khan faced a legal setback as the Islamabad High Court suspended the sentence of his wife in the Toshakhana case but upheld his incarceration. Despite the court's decision, Imran Khan remains behind bars, awaiting further proceedings after Eid.

In a hearing presided over by Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb, the court granted a stay on the verdict in response to Imran's appeal. However, Imran's fate remains uncertain until the conclusion of the next hearing following the Eid holidays.

Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, faced accusations in the Toshakhana case for allegedly accepting valuable state gifts from the government treasury. The Islamabad High Court had earlier sentenced them to 14 years in prison, along with a hefty fine and a ban from holding public office for 10 years.

Despite being present in court during the verdict announcement, Imran Khan surrendered and was subsequently confined to Adiala Jail. Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi was transferred to their residence in Banigala, declared a sub-jail for her detention.

Imran Khan's legal woes extend beyond the Toshakhana case, with additional charges and sentences against him. Earlier this year, an anti-corruption court sentenced him and his wife to seven years in prison for an illegal marriage case. These legal challenges have kept the former prime minister incarcerated since August last year, culminating in a recent court decision that prolongs his stay behind bars.
