Islamabad, Apr 18 (V7N) — Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir has concluded a three-day official visit to Iran, during which he emphasized the need to strengthen peace and stability in the Middle East, according to a statement from the Pakistan Army.
High-level meetings in Tehran
During his visit, General Munir met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials. Discussions reportedly focused on regional security, stability, and efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East.
The army statement said he also conveyed greetings from Iranian leadership to Pakistan’s top officials and expressed gratitude for Tehran’s hospitality.
Focus on diplomacy and regional dialogue
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to maintaining “historic and brotherly relations” with Iran and supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve regional conflicts through dialogue.
Officials said Islamabad is seeking to play a mediating role between Iran and the United States amid ongoing diplomatic tensions, with Pakistan being viewed as a potential bridge for communication between the two sides.
The visit comes ahead of a planned second round of US-Iran talks next week and is being seen as part of broader regional diplomatic efforts to ease tensions.
