Beirut, Apr 27 (V7N)- Israeli forces have continued airstrikes and military operations in southern Lebanon despite a previously declared ceasefire, leaving at least 14 people dead, including two children, on Sunday (April 26).

According to reports, the ceasefire—announced on April 16 under US mediation between Israel and the Lebanese government—has not been effectively upheld. Instead, the intensity of Israeli attacks has increased in recent days.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has reportedly ordered evacuations across large in southern Lebanon, citing ongoing operations against the armed group Hezbollah. As a result, millions of civilians have been displaced from their homes.

On Sunday alone, evacuation orders were issued for residents of seven additional towns along the Litani River, while Israeli troop deployment in border was further reinforced.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for multiple counterattacks targeting Israeli positions inside Lebanese territory, signaling continued escalation between the two sides.

The ongoing hostilities, which intensified since early March, have reportedly resulted in nearly 2,500 deaths in Lebanon, raising growing international concern over the worsening humanitarian situation.
