Kolkata, May 01 (V7N)- Mamata Banerjee, leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, personally monitored a sealed strong room in the rain on Thursday (April 30), raising concerns over possible tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

She stayed for nearly four hours at Shakhawat Memorial School on Lord Sinha Road in her constituency Ballygunge, where the voting machines have been stored. Accompanied by her election agent, Banerjee inspected the security arrangements and reviewed the overall situation at the facility.

Her move follows allegations that unauthorized individuals were seen moving freely inside a sealed strong room at one of the centers, reportedly in violation of established protocols. In a video message earlier in the day, she expressed serious concerns about potential EVM tampering and instructed party workers to maintain strict vigilance.

Banerjee also alleged that her party’s agent had been arrested and claimed that several “one-sided” incidents had taken place. She warned that any attempt to manipulate or “steal” the EVMs or interfere with vote counting would be strongly resisted.

Political tensions are running high in West Bengal as the state prepares for the vote counting scheduled on May 4, with both ruling and opposition parties closely watching developments around the strong rooms.
